The origins of Fiasco as Failure

In many languages we find this:

Fiasco = Failure

Probably its origins are in the specific failure of glassmiths. They had to shape the glass by blowing through a pipe. If they failed, they were left with the easiest object: a glass bubble similar to a fiasco (Italian bottle for wine).

Fiasco: a bottle in many languages

"Fiasco" is a very popular Italian word with Germanic roots. However this term is present in many european languages to indicate different types of bottles.

(It) Fiasco: specific round bottle for wine (mainly Chianti)

(De) Flasche: any bottle

(En) Flask = (It) Borraccia
